[Barrie, ON, March 2, 2020]XcelerateHER is launching a social media campaign today for this year’s International Women’s Day to harmoniously honour women who have positively impacted the surrounding business region. The collective will be profiling a woman each day for the month of March to showcase the importance of celebrating women more than just one day out of the entire year.

In partnership with XcelerateHER, Sandbox Centre, Town of Innisfil, Georgian College Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre, and City of Barrie will all be contributing to the campaign through their own social accounts. Echoing the recent launch of the Government of Canada’s #BecauseOfYou campaign, as well as International Women’s Day #EachForEqual campaign, the collective will recognize women in business who have made our surrounding region stronger by breaking barriers, challenging cultural and societal norms, advocating for change, and advancing equality in their respective fields.

“As women in business, we look forward to celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8th every year,” says Danielle Lazarevska, Managing Director of the Sandbox Centre. “One day of the year just isn’t enough time to celebrate and recognize the significant number of women who have made a positive impact and are doing so much good in our business community. We are stronger together, so we encourage others to recognize the amazing women making a difference in their community.”

Throughout this campaign, XcelerateHER will not only recognize impactful women in business from the region, but aims to raise awareness about the community of women they are currently building. The XcelerateHER community connects women entrepreneurs to events, peer groups, mentorship, funding, and support. XcelerateHER is the one degree of separation between the resources and connections you need to scale and grow your business.

“International Women’s Day is a great opportunity to showcase and celebrate women who are already connected to the XcelerateHER community and show other women the existing cohesive support network that currently exists for them,” says Sara Bentham, Director, Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre (HBEC) at Georgian College. “Our region is thriving with strong and powerful women who are contributing to growing our economy and advancing future generations for the better – XcelerateHER is a movement to support and fuel that.”

To follow the campaign, the coalition of XcelerateHER encourages others to join the conversation on their social platforms and support the events scheduled in their community for International Women’s Day 2020.
