Joshua completed his articles at a local law firm in Barrie and worked there as an associate upon his call to the Ontario Bar. Joshua practices in the areas of general civil litigation and employment law. Born and raised in Barrie, Joshua graduated with honours from the J.D. program at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law. Joshua previously obtained a Bachelor Arts (Honours) from York University where he majored in Law and Society. Prior to practicing law, Joshua worked in various capacities for the Federal Government including roles as a Special Assistant to the Member of Parliament for Barrie, a Legislative Assistant to a Senator, and as a Special Assistant to the Minister of National Defence.

Janice provides counsel to clients in the areas of corporate and commercial law, wills and estates, and real estate. Janice focuses on understanding her clients’ business and goals to ensure they receive the best possible advice. Janice was called to the Bar of the Law Society of Ontario (LSO) in June 2013 after earning her law degree from the Queen’s University Faculty of Law. Through her involvement with the law school, Janice was a part of the Queen’s Business Law Clinic, providing advice and guidance to start-up corporations, and volunteered with the Family Law Project in assisting those without representation navigate the family law court system. Prior to enrolling in law school, Janice completed her Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) at the Queen’s School of Business. In 2019 Janice received the Barrie Adance Readers’ Choice Favourite Real Estate Lawyer Award.

Chris is an Associate lawyer who practices in the areas of Business Law, Real Estate Law, and Wills & Estates. Chris was called to the bar in January 2019 after completing his Articling term with Barriston. Chris completed his law degree at the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia. While attending law school, Chris acted as a clinician for Rise Women’s Legal Centre, a community legal clinic which provides assistance to low income women with family law matters and will drafting. Prior to pursuing his law degree, Chris earned a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance, from Ryerson University.

He has several years’ experience in business start-up and financing, restructuring and turnarounds, M&A, corporate governance, financial reporting & controls, budgeting, legal and contracts, ERP implementations, risk management, IT and human resources management.

The Starting Your Business sessions delivered by the Small Business Centre of Barrie, Orillia, and Simcoe County are here for you to take advantage of! Business Plan Basics – Parts 1 & 2 Sessions

Writing your first business plan is a major step in putting your small business on the map! A business plan articulates the concepts that inspired you to start your business, as well as evaluate potential hurdles like competition and funding issues. Whether you are seeking start-up capital or just want a solid road map to guide you through the early years of your business, a workable small business plan will help you accomplish your goals. Explore what will be addressed in part one and two of business plan basics: 

  • Part 1 : Introduction to planning, contents of a plan, executive summary, company overview, marketing strategy, and introduction to market research
  • Part 2 : Operations, financials, critical path, and other library resources that can assist you with your business plan
