Founder & Director
Brad Ferguson
Industry: Art, Animation & Entertainment Education
After working as everything in the animation industry, from animator and designer to director of award-winning televisions shows, Brad discovered his true passion for teaching and inspiring others in art, animation and storytelling. For over a year he has been providing custom-tailored training in art, animation, and storytelling to individuals of all ages and experience levels, through his business Upchuckle Education. Outside of work Brad likes to draw and create stories as well as hike and go camping.
Fun Fact: “I’ve created art, made up stories, and have performed for as long as I can remember (then I got to do it professionally for more than 20 years!).”
Team Cat or Dog? “I am Switzerland since I love them equally. In fact, almost all animals are tied (except spiders…which suck).”
What is special about your business?
“At Upchuckle, we stand out through our expertise and the unique custom-tailored services we offer. We operate like a piano teacher but for art, animation and film. Our dedication to each student is unwavering and we are passionate about helping them achieve their goals. Looking ahead, our vision is for Upchuckle Education to transform into a prestigious accredited private college in Barrie specializing in art, animation and all entertainment-related studies.”
Can you share any exciting projects or initiatives your business is currently working on?
“At Upchuckle, we’re passionate about making creative opportunities accessible to everyone who wants to express themselves. That’s why we’ve developed the Upchuckle Student Sponsorship Program. Through this initiative, individuals or businesses can sponsor a student for any of our services, from 1-on-1 lessons to attending Cartoon Camp. We collaborate with local charities to identify students facing financial hardship, mourning the loss of a parent or sibling or living in foster care. For every sponsorship received, Upchuckle matches it, doubling the impact and working with the community to help twice as many children.”
What’s Your Favourite Thing About the Sandbox?
“So many things. The awesome support and opportunities to learn while also building great connections has been simply amazing.”
If you see me at the Sandbox, ask me about…
“How I’m able to teach you to express yourself creatively and build your confidence in the process, regardless of your age or experience.”
